EDTE
It was so sad to have our final class with Linda today, We will all miss having you at our teacher, and as much of a pain as I might be I really did appreciate all the support over this past semester especially !!!
This past semester, I had an extremely difficult placement. My special pal had serious difficulties with not only hand writing but, reading and math as well. It was a good...

Today instead of studying…I was baking all day, and it brought back flash backs of all the teachers I made presents for or baked for, thats what teaching is all about, if a student likes you enough to bake you homemade marshmallows from SCRATCH, guess what your doing something right !!!

It was so amazing to see everyones movies tonight !!! I was in awe of most of them with how amazing the editing and creativity of them all. So many of them has such great messages to take away with. It so interesting to see everyones points of view on the subjects talked about in the videos. It was also so inspiring to see the interviews done with some of the teachers, and how different so...

The new hit website is Pinterest… I am a pinning addict, and the best part about this website is there a specific section just for education/teachers. As far away as our teaching career officially starting may be, i can still start to think about all the cool crafts i want to do with my students. It so much fun from everything to holiday crafts to ways to teach site words !!! LOVE IT...
EDTE last day
Today was my last day at my placement with Chardenay. After everything i had to go though this semester with it was unfortunately much more a relief than a sad goodbye. The reason this placement was just so difficult was because my placement teacher just essential used as a tutor. I was just so sad because I believe she is an amazing teacher and could have been a really great mentor for me, but...

Well I have been procrastination doing these posts to the last minute I guess…. I feel like we are all around each other so much that we are constantly reflecting endlessly about our experiences not only during our placements but also in our classes that its weird to reflect to an electronic journal… I never was one to keep a journal.
It was really kind of eye opening over break...

seems very structured…not much room for teachers imagination.
these were the types of activities in school that were so insnaly
love the picture paste into a sentence
to many words, boring to read, doesn’t get a teacher excited to plan a lesson
I think that while you have a guided curriculum to fallow in the school system, its important to not just fallow it to the T. That...

So far my knowledge about writing and literacy is very minimal…not because we haven’t learned a substantial amount about the subject and how to teach it, but because for everything we learn a new challenge becomes apparent. The most beneficial thing about teaching literacy though is the fact that each student does have one thing that they are literate in and that each teacher should...

todays tumblr assignment was a little confusing because every article i seemed to click on was only like a paragraph long and didn’t leave me much to reflect on but the one I did click on was “The Many Faces of You”. It was really kind of interesting to see that persecutive how how Facebook is not only changing the way we interact with our friends but its also changing family...

I think the most important thing that i have taken away from Penny Kittle’s “Write Beside Them” was to be the example . The not only was shown time and time again in this book as also in the article we read this past week in class. It so unbelievably cool it is to have a teacher actually do an assignment that is assigned to the class. Why is it that 95% of teachers have never...

Each week we are constantly pealing back a layer of defining what literacy means to each and every one of us. In our group in particular it is as interesting as it is frustrating, having these discussions. Each time we are prompted by a new article fallowed by a group discussion we not only get way off topic on our own personal literacy experiences but also are realizing how much we never can...

Trace your reading and writing practices for a couple of days. Become ethnographers. What do you read and write? What is the function of those reading and writing practices? What do you label as reading or writing? What connections do these things have to schooling? Reflect on your own uses of literacy in your post.

1) What’s your story? Why teaching as a profession? My whole life I have been surrounded by teachers. My mother has been an elementary school teacher now for over 25 years, my grandmas was a teacher for even longer, our families best friend is even a teacher. For years growing up i would sit on the couch listening in on my moms conversations about all the positives and negatives of what a life of...
